Farah Shah

Farah has 30 years of Jazz training and has trained full-time at Bodenweiser Dance Centre in Jazz, Lyrical,Contemporary, Classical Ballet, Anatomy and Safe Dance Practise and more...
When living in Canada and the UK she further trained in Hip hop, Locking, Popping and Street Funk.

Farah was recently the Official Choreographer for the MTV Awards Australia for Wyclef and Dizzy Rasal which broadcasted worldwide in front of millions of viewers in the U.SA, U.K and Europe.  She also Choreographed for "So You Think You Can Dance" Australia click here, where she personally created  a Bollywood Hip hop piece for Kate and Graeme.

In January 2007, Farah Choreographed  4 TV commercials for SONY INDIA, which are airing in India as we speak. She was involved as a Choreographer for "Dancing with the Stars" India and regularly choreographs Corporate shows for Companies such as: AMP, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Qantas, Thai Airways, Price Waterhouse, Macquarie Bank, Medical conventions, Mitsubishi Awards, GE Money, Sydney PowerHouse Museum, Sydney Film Festival, HARVEY WORLD TRAVEL, FANTASTIC FURNITURE, PFIZER PHARMACEUTICALS, WESTPAC, ORACLE, MACQUARIE BANK, PRICE WATERHOUSE, Australian Housing Trust, SKILLSEARCH COMPUTING, VISY RECYCLING, CAFE SYDNEY at Venues such as: Crown Casino, Sheraton on the Park, Fox Studios, Luna Park, Fairmont Resort, , Government House, Cafe Sydney, Crown Plaza Hunter Valley ....and many more

Farah has also worked as a commercial dancer in "Son of Mask" - Hollywood Movie, Bollywood Movie "Khulay Aasman Ka Neeche",The MTV Awards (Dancer for Chingy, Simple Plan, Grinspoon- Lead Dancer),  L&M Cigarette Commercial, ICARUS Hair Product Launches, Diva Awards, Sydney 2000 Olympics, "Chess" the Musical, Mardi Gras Opening,  Sydney Para-Olympics Opening Ceremony and more.

Farah has been featured on: Australian Idol, Sydney Getaway, Sydney Weekender, The Kerry-Anne show, The Today Show, Asian Focus and Meet the Neighbourhood.

Having Indian and Persian heritage, Farah launched Sydney's First Bollywood Dance classes in 2003 and Mango Dance Studio in 2005.

Farah has taught classes in Sydney, London and Dublin in Street Funk, Hip hop and Commercial Jazz  at venues such as: Pineapple Dance Studio, Sydney Dance Company Open classes, Dance Theatre of Ireland, Dance Central, Flamencology Dance Studio, North Shore Dance Studio, City Dance Centre, Gyms and more......

James Taylor

James Taylor was born and trained in London at the Royal Ballet School, where he received a scholarship to study at the Paris Opera. James has been a member of the Royal Ballet, London, the National Ballet of Portugal, Lisbon and the National Ballet of Canada, Toronto. He has worked on new productions with many world-renowned choreographers including Sir Frederick Ashton,Sir Kenneth MacMillan, Rudolf Nureyev, Jiri Kilian, William Forsythe,Glen Tetley, David Parsons and Graeme Murphy.

He has also performed with many international ballet stars including, Rudolf Nureyev, Sir Anthony Dowell, Silvie Guillem, Mikhail Barishnikov, Fernando Bahones, Karen Kain, Alessandra Ferri, John Meehan,Margaret Illman, Rex Harrington, Leanne Benjamin and Viviana Durante. James joined Sydney Dance Company in 1993 and after three years left to form his own business, Smeg Productions, producing dance based entertainment for corporate and private clients, including DKNY, BMW, Porche, ABN Amro, MTV and the Attorney General.

In 2001 James was a founding member of the Bondi
Ballet
and has created five works as Resident Choreographer becoming Assistant Artistic Director in July last year. James has created two works with Sydney Dance Company and two works for the West Australian Ballet.

James is also a recognised freelance teacher and choreographer. He has given class for Sydney Dance Company open class studios, Soda competition,and adjudicated twice for the MacDonald Challenge Ballet Final at the Opera House.

in 2007, James has just completed choreographing a production of Cabaret for Ascham School and later this year he will be choreographing a production of Grease for Skeggs College.

James is currently Choreographing and Directing a large scale music called "Vegas"........soon to come....

Yannus Sufandi

Yannus is a well recognized Actor/Choreographer and Performer in Theatre, Film, TVC's, Music Video, and Stage Performances. more recenty he was seen choreographing for "So You Think you Can Dance" Australia and Malaysia. Where he choreographed Lyrical Hip hop and Hip Hop pieces for Kassy and Graeme.

His Credits includes: Fatman Scoop, Mis-Teeq, Sugababes, Selwyn, Guy Sebastian. Support acts and performances such as 2002 Rumba Australian Tour, Destiny’s Child Australian Tour, Aria's Awards 2002/2004, 2003 Music OZ Awards.Theatre and Films: Turandot Opera, Madama Butterfly at Sydney Opera House, Matrix 2&3, Changi Short TV Series, Heartbreak High TV Series.TVC’s such as Nippon Paint, KFC, Sony Ericcson, SBS, Telstra, Coca Cola, Samsung, Peugeot, Old Navy, TM Net, Munchy’s, McDonalds and many more.

Yannus most recently worked with the great Choreographer Michael Rooney, and Graeme Murphy. He has taught International/National Classes and Workshops, his Dance styles: Hip Hop, Jazz, Funk, Breakdance, Krump, Popping and Locking and House.

Paul Bennett

Paul Bennett began his professional training at Paul McCartney’s university “The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts” where he gained a BA(Hons) degree in Dance. He received expert training in the dance genres of contemporary, jazz, classical, contact improvisation, release and Musical Theatre.

After completing his degree he was invited by former Ballet Rambert Soloist Jacqui Jones to join her company Jak-I, who are a dance and music interactive company. It was here he fine tuned his contemporary technique and choreographic skills later to become a choreographer and and director for the company, which led the company to international tours around the UK and Europe. As well as his love for contemporary dance Paul has also enjoyed success in the fields of commercial Jazz where he performed in Paul McCartney’s World Tour and choreographed and performed for UK music acts Ultra Beat, Resonance Q, Nazene and Kelly Lorenna.

As well as performing with various companies Paul also worked independently as a teacher and choreographer in the North West of England. He taught and lectured on subjects such as Injury Prevention in Dancers, teaching methods, choreography techniques, Healthy Issues and the development of contemporary Arts as well as choreographing for many universities and schools in the UK. He was also invited back to his university to help train students at the institution.  

Since Arriving in Australia he has set up a Contemporary Company "Chimera Dance Company" and has recently Choreographed for Ricki-Lee for the closing ceremony of the Grand Prix - V8 Race of Nations.

Jonathan Fitzgerland

Jonathan began his passion with Dance at age 12, joining with Cork Arts Studio under the direction of champion dance couple, Philip Mc Taggat Walsh and his wife Rebecca Allman.  Recognized for his commitment and natural talent, at age 17 Jonathan was awarded a full scholarship to attend the prestigious Laine Theatre Arts in central London.  He graduated after his three year professional training with a Diploma in Performing Arts.

Jonathan has extensive film and television experience working as a featured dancer and choreographer.  Career highlights include working alongside Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy in the 2007 International Feature Film, ‘Becoming Jane’ and playing both featured Dancer, Dance Captain and Choreographer in the Golden Globe Award nominated and Emmy award winning  television mini-series ‘the Tudors’ starring  Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Australia’s Sam Neill.  Building on such successes, Jonathan was again asked to work with Granada Productions, this time as Dance Captain in ‘Northanger Abbey’ .


Through 2003 to 2005, Jonathan worked aboard many of the World’s most luxurious Cruise Ships, culminating in being Dance Captain and Company Manager for the 2006 World Cruise aboard the 6-Star vessel, the Regent Seven Seas Voyager.  As an integral part of an ensemble production cast, Jonathan was able to hone his broad repertoire across all genres of dance; from Classical to Broadway; Rock & Roll to Hip Hop.  Dance has provided Jonathan with the opportunity to perform and visit an equally vast range of exotic destinations throughout the Baltic, Caribbean, Americas and Asia.


While in Ireland recently, Jonathan choreographed the Irish Premier of ‘Disney’s High School Musical’.   This honour complimented two consecutive years of choreographing the huge commercial phenomenon of British Pantomime. ‘Aladdin’ and ‘Cinderella’ both enjoying critical acclaim and sell-out 6-week runs in Ireland’s beautiful Cork Opera House.  Jonathan is consistently asked to choreograph end of year productions for various Performing Arts Colleges and also choreographed music videos, most notably for popular Irish band ‘J-90’.

Jonathan has performed in many English Musical Theatre productions, including Oklahoma (as Dream Curly), Peter Pan, Fast Track, Snow White, Moving Out and West End Laines at the Aldwych Theatre in London’s West End.

Jonathan enjoys teaching students of all ages, and has taught all genres throughout the UK, Singapore and looks forward to quickly establishing himself as Dancer, Choreographer and Performing Arts Teacher in his much loved new home; Sydney, Australia.

Damien Grima

Damien Grima began his training at the age of six, at Theatre Arts Mackay under the direction of Lynette Denny.  Starting with tap, he then moved onto all styles including Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Acrobatics, Drama and Singing.  After completing his CSTD Gold Cross and RAD Intermediate exams he then moved to Melbourne to train at the Australian Ballet School.  Here he also performed some small roles with the Company.

Damien's first full time dance job was with Princess Cruises, which resulted in a few fill in contracts in the years that followed.  In between these Damien worked as a commercial dancer for ads in Taiwan, Star Struck on Ch 9, The Helpmann Awards as well as two contracts with Opera Australia.  He also spent some time in England performing an U.K Tour of Copacabana and as Dance Captain for Potters Theatre Company.

As well as teaching the full time students at Bartuccio's in Melbourne, Damien had the opportunity to assist the Choreographer at Potters Theatre Company.  He has also spent some time teaching Ballroom and Latin after spending a year and a half in training.  This has resulted in Damien and his dance partner choreographing a contemporary/ballroom piece for Short, Sweet and Dance.

Paul Cordeiro

Paul was born in Singapore, trained in Perth at WAAPA completing a Diploma of Dance. 

His first engagement was with One Extra Company. He toured nationally with The King and I 1991 - 1992 and with West Side Story in 1995. He worked with Flamenco Master Antonio Vargas, and with Opera Australia with Stephen Page. Paul has performed his own work at the Studio at the Opera House as well as having his own season at Belvoir St. Theatre. 

He was Assistant Choreographer on the Sydney Olympics Opening Ceremony 2000 and Resident Dance Supervisor on THE LION KING (Musical).
Stephen Clarke

Stephen Clarke has been dancing and choreographing professionally since 1985 when he first choreographed Ridgy Didge for Channel 10’s children’s department at the age of 18. As well as numerous TV commercials Stephen successfully performed in stage musicals such as the 3 million dollar production of Rasputin, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita, and the 1988 Royal Bicentennial Concert. He was a regular on Ray Martin’s Midday Show and toured Australia with the world’s greatest dance spectacular in 1989. He has worked with Kylie and Dannii Minogue as well as Margaret Urlich.

Stephen worked in Japan on Music Videos and television commercials. Some of his earliest successes were for companies such as McDonalds, J-Phone and JRA. Five years later at the invitation of fellow Australian’s Kylie & Dannie Minogue. Stephen relocated to London where he became in-house choreographer for the Terry Blamey Management Company. Whilst in England he had the pleasure of choreographing Dan Goggins Musical comedy Nunsense for the Cavalade Theatre Company in London ’s West End to rave reviews.

Clients such as Mitsu Cruises, Walt Disney, Cindi Lauper, Swatch, Virgin and Diana Ross requested Stephen’s return to Tokyo regularly. As well as choreographing for Alex Trax (Japan’s leading music company) Stephen became involved with world famous Jewellery Designer Kazuo Ogawa and choreographed shows for not only Japanese Royalty but American Dignitaries representing both South Africa and Egypt.
 

Manuela Oliveira

Choreographer / Dancer / Model is what describes the True Entertainer Manuela Oliveira who has appeared in many TV Shows, Music Videos, Stage Performances, and TV Commercials both Nationally and Internationally. Born in Australia, she travels throughout the globe to Work and Teach to fulfill her passion in Teaching / Choreographing and Performing. Her Credits Include: “So You Think You Can Dance” Australia Season 1 Choreographer, “So You Think You Can Dance” Malaysia Season 1 and Season 2 as Artistic Director / Choreographer and Guest Judge, “Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards” as Choreographer, “Raymond Weil” Watch Launch as Choreographer.

Manuela has appeared in Music Videos and Stage Performances for Artists from Sony Music, Warner Music, Universal Records and has performed alongside International and National Artists, Such as “Samantha Jade” (Jive Records Signed Artist) at the “Australian Urban Music Awards ” 2007, “Israel” (Nufirm Records) Australia’s No.1 R&B Artist.

Ilona Fabiszewski

Ilona is an accomplished performer and choreographer who began dancing at the age of five. Her training experience spans over 19 years and includes Funk, Hip Hop, RnB, Jazz, Tap, Popping & Locking and Break. Ilona recently lived and studied dance in the UK to take her versatility to the next level. Ilona inteInsively trained with top UK choreographers focussing on specialising in Fusion Funk, Hip Hop and Popping & Locking. Ilona’s talent and intrinsic feel for music has lead her to perform at venues such as The Entertainment Centre, The Opera House, Laycock Street Theatre, Elite Championships, Groove, Battle of The Year, Dancekool, British Airways Media Party (London), NYE Luna Park 2005, ‘Rize’ film launch at Bondi Openair Cinema,  ‘Random’s’ music video ‘Are You Ready’ and for well respected crews such as ‘Caramell’. She continues to perform at various nightclubs and venues throughout Sydney.

Ilona’s teaching experience remains in high demand since her return from the UK. With her inspired and fresh approach to street styles her moves are powerful and innovative. Classes maintain variety with contrasts from raw and high-energy. With a personable approach to teaching she inspires confidence and encourages students to bring personality into every move.  Students will benefit from her attention to detail and dedication in raising the standards of dance in Sydney.

Andrew Sears
Andrew has been dancing since 2003 training under some of Australia’s leading choreographers. His focus has been on hip hop and commercial styles, his choreography is a melting pot of lyrical hip hop/commercial/jazz funk using beats and lyrics as his main focus when teaching! In 2006 Andrew toured Malaysia as part of the “rize above tour” as well as dancing for Israel (the artist) and at the Urban Music Awards, as well Andrew has danced for Coca~Cola and at various club venues. 

Andrew has also done some modelling work for MacDonalds and appeared on a CD cover for the “rize above dance” compilation through out Asia . 

Through Mango Dance Productions, Andrew appeared in the Bollywood film “Hey Baby” and music video clips for The Young Diva’s and Roxanne Lebrasse. Andrew believes that teaching allows an opportunity to share with others what he has learnt himself and  has joined Mango due to popular demand !!!

Jayne Turner

Jayne  is Jazz and Ballet trained and has been teaching hip hop, jazz and choreographing in Sydney for the past 6 years.

Her Choreography credits include, Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards. Breakdance performance with Joel Turner. Mike Champion – R’n’B shows. Cristian Alexanda –  Music Oz Awards, Channel V . Mercedes Australian Fashion week parades for the following designers; Josh, Goot, Tina Kalivas, Bettina Liano and Toni Maticevski.

She has  choreographed Television Commercials for Toyota Scion (USA), Archers Alcohol (UK) and Road Tax (UK)

She has also performed in  special events such as Mardi Gras, Harbour Party, Korwall, Adultshop.com and Idea Works 25th Anniversary.

Sally Hare

Sally attended Newtown High School of the Performing Arts, Brent Street Studios in Sydney and has trained at Dance World 301 and with Robert Sturrock in Melbourne.  At these places is where she trained in jazz, tap, hip hop, contemporary and ballet.  She has been dancing since she was five years old and has been playing the piano and singing for almost as long. 

Sally has just returned from touring Australia and New Zealand as a dancer with the World Festival of Magic. Her versatility and artistic ability have enabled her to feature as a dancer in the product launches of major brands such as Sony, Target and Harley Davidson.  She has also had the opportunity to dance at major events like the Sydney 2000 Olympics Opening and Closing Ceremonies, V8 Supercar Awards Ceremonies, the AFL Grand Final Breakfast, Small Business Awards and NRL Grand Finals.  Sally has choreographed for Greece’s Eurovision representative Sarbel.  Her television credits include performing in film clips for Taxiride and Ricki Lee, appearances on Home and Away and commercials for Samsung, Suntory and Macdonalds.

Sally is passionate about dancing, and when she is not performing herself, loves most of all to share her knowledge and teach the variety of styles of dance in which she specialises.  While living in Melbourne Sally was teaching at Dance World 301, Industry School of Dance for Robert Sturrock, The Space Dance and Performing Arts Centre, Chunky Move and Centrestage Performing Arts School for Ian and Leanne White.  Now in Sydney, Sally has had the pleasure to teach on occasion at Urban Dance Centre, Glenda Yee School of Performing Arts, Warringah Performing Arts and at Mango Dance Studio.

Blacker Conteh 

Blacker has been dancing for over 20 years since he was 7 years old. He describes dancing as being "part of his system". Already at the age of 9 he was chosen to perform on television dance shows with other young talents of Sierra Leone. As a result he was noticed by the Sierra Leone Dance Troupe, who offered him to join the team. Blacker considered it as a great opportunity to join the team as the major troupe were to tour and perform across the continent representing their country and his culture. The troupe had a great influence on Blacker's education allowing him to develop his talent and establish a clear view of his career.

During one of the international tours Blacker was again discovered by Izzo, influencial choreographer of Sene Gambia who worked at the elite five star hotel managing its dance team for entertainment purposes. Such achievementsare considered a great breakthrough for dancers as the hotel establishment only looked for the best or the "cream" of dancers.

Interestingly, Blacker's next career change came again as a result of his ability to stand out amoungst other performers. He was spotted by a manager of International Entertainment & Cultural Group bases in China, who was delighted with Blacker's work that he invited him to join his team, which were to perform and travel even at a broader level around China.

Blacker now shares his skills in Sydney by teaching classes in African, Break, Hip Hop, Jazz, Freestyle, Funk. Reggae, Fire and Contemporary dancers. With this added Fire eating skills and skills in singing rap songs, Blacker devises and creates workshops in African tribal dance and drumming.

Blacker has been in demand to teach at venues such as Sydney Dance Company-Open classes, Stamping Ground-Bellingen Dance Festival

Zac Jaffar
Zac trained at Tisch University of Performing Arts, New York, completing a Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre and Choreography. 

Zac is an accomplished dancer, singer, actor and choreographer. His theatre and television credits include: The Arena Spectacular Grease, Into the Woods, MAUI the Musical, The King and I [New York], Kiss of the Spiderwoman, and Pyjama Games. 

He has choreographed for many corporate events including: Gas Night Club, ACONS Hand in Hand 2001, Yamaha International and fashion parades. Zac was assistant choreographer to Ramon Doringo for ACONS Hand in Hand 1999 and Men in Black Movie Launch. Zac has also taught at Arthur Murray Dance School.

Anne Dyer

Anne Dyer has had an amazing career as an accomplished Ballet dancer and teacher. After studying R.A.D Syllabus and completing her Solo Seal. She spent 9 Months in London polishing her technique after which she had an 11 year professional career dancing with Belgian and French companies.

She has taught at Brent Street Performing Arts School, Hi Rise Dance and Arts Centre and at N.A.I.S.D.A (National Aboriginal Islander Dance Association), is an accomplished Pianist, Ballroom and Latin Dancer, her current training is in Flamenco.

Anne is the founder and principal of her own dance school 'Dance Star' after 26 years continues to pass on her broad knowledge and love of dance to her students.
 
Sisqo

Michael Francisco or Sisqo as he is known, specializes in hip hop and JFH and has taught workshops at Sydney Dance Company and Hervey Bay, QLD with Hip Hop 101 and has travelled to New York to teach at summer camps.

He has been a member of some of Sydneys best crews such as Caramell, Do or Die and currently Seven Sins. Not only does he compete and dance with these crews he has also won awards for his unique freestyle taking out the freestyle champion award at Shakedown 2006.

Some of his credits include performing and choreographing for Mike Champion, MTV Music Video Awards 2005, Australian Idol contestant James Kannis film clip Love 2 Love, Sleazeball 2006 with Katie Underwood, dancing for Jade MaCrae in Newcastle, official dancer for radio station “The Edge
96.1”and has supported at the DMX Concert and Boyz To Men and Kci and JoJo on their 2007 Tour.

Vanessa Sew Hoy

Born in Sydney, Vanessa Sew Hoy started dancing at the age of 3.  Following a year's full-time dancing course at Tanya Pearson's Classical Coaching Academy, Vanessa left home at just 15 to attended The Australian Ballet School, then on to Queensland University of Technology to complete a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance).

Vanessa began Pilates more than 10 years ago and is currently a full-time Pilates Instructor having completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in the Pilates Method at the University of Technology Sydney.

Vanessa has travelled to many places overseas to dance and perform, including Taiwan, Italy, Switzerland and German.  She has performed as an extra with The Australian Ballet Company in Madame Butterfly and Manon and The English National Ballet Company in Swan Lake.

Vanessa's passion for dance has lead her to study a variety of dance styles including, classical ballet, contemporary, jazz, spanish, chinese, salsa, latin, ballroom, new vogue and other world dances.   

Robert Bednar

Robert Bednar  is a professional international dancer with more that 12 years experience in Latin American and Ballroom dancing. He has been professionally trained by the best Hungarian Instructors. His Latin Teacher, Krisztina Baki, was a multiple World Cup Finalist in Blackpool, England, and Hungarian Champion. His Ballroom Instructor. Zoltan Boros, has been a multiple Hungarian champion in this category and highly acclaimed international ADSL judge.  

Robert has performed on many European dance floors and has had more than 12 years experience competing and performing. During his professional years in Europe he was ranked 8th in Ten Dance Competition.  

After Robert reached the highest levels of international style he began his teaching career in both Latin American and Ballroom styles. His experience encompasses 5 years of teaching in Hungary, England and Australia in both Social and International styles.

Max Francisco
Max started dancing at the age of 5, and since then has performed and studied in Modern Ballet, contemporary, jazz and Hip Hop. After completion of her HSC Max attended the ACPE (The Australian College of Physical Education) studying Bachelor of Dance Education. 

In 2005 Max has performed with Grinspoon, Simple Plan and as a main dancer for American Artist Chingy at the Australian MTV Awards. She has also danced in video clips for Young Divas, Da'Vid and 2005 Australian Idol contestant Roxanne Lebrasse. At the 2007 A1 Grand Prix Max was a back-up dancer for Ricki Lee and also performed with Groovelock at this years Royal Easter Show on the Xtreme Arena Stage.

Max started choreographing in high school for the junior ensembles as well as co-choreographing for the senior ensemble. She also taught jazz and hip hop at the local school in Arcadia and travelled to the United States spending 2 months teaching jazz, contemporary and hip hop at camp in Pennsylvania.

Kaylene Pomana Jones


 

 

Kaylene has over 20 years of experience dancing Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Urban (Funk, Hip Hop), Latin (Salsa and Samba) and Polynesian (Maori, Samoan, Tahitian, Hawaiian) dance styles. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of ACT SING DANCE providing services such as:      artistic dance coaching to gymnasts and acrobats;corporate team building dance classes ;creative corporate training, solutions using improvisation and comedy; and hens night dance parties.

Kaylene has performed in numerous musicals, cabaret shows, rock/pop bands and understudied 10 roles (acting/singing/dancing) in the musical “Showboat” directed by Broadway legend Harold Prince at Lyric Theatre in Sydney.  Most recently her professional acting credits include a guest role in both “All Saints” and the SBS comedy “Life Support” whilst being a presenter for corporate videos.

Mauricio Alpizor

Mauricio trained at the Academy of Performing Arts in both Costa Rica and Spain and later furthered his studies in fitness.

After five years with the Costa Rica Dance Company, Mauricio joined Star Cruises as a choreographer for their entertainment department working on many of their premier shows including “Beauty and The Beast”.

Along with his stage management experience Mauricio took his dance talent to Australia where in Perth he managed and directed Café Caribee Dance Company whilst teaching for Ozdance and Multi cultural centre and Calypsamba Carnival for the Perth Festival and again for the Sydney Festival’s “Bicardi Festival”.

Mauricio has also seen his talent on screen working as a choreographer for Jane Chapman’s film “Lantana” and the Spanish version of the “Wiggles”.

Michael Boyd

Michael Boyd was lead dancer in Baz Luhrman’s Moulin Rouge, appeared in Scooby Doo the movie and numerous TV commercials and film clips. He has performed in various musicals including Grease Arena Spectacular, Supanova Band and Cointreau Ball. He has also performed for Grinspoon, Kelly Clarkson and Australian Idol.

Michael was the resident choreographer for Bardot.  Other choreographic credits include Pepsi Charts, Bondi Ballet seasons 2002 and 2004, David Jones Couture Collections, Channel V, NRL Grand Final, Charlie Angels Sydney Premier, RUMBA, Telethons, Wella Hair Shows, Jockey Underwear, B.M.W, Carlton United, and Westfields.

Virginia Ferris

Virginia Ferris is a respected Sydney based independent Choreographer, Artistic Director and dance Tutor. Virginia’s career spans more than 20 years and includes commercial work, dance theatre, street dance and musical theatre. Over the last twenty years Virginia has performed with Classical, Contemporary and Jazz dance companies. Her performance credits include musical theatre performer for The Peter Allen National Show and David Atkins Dancin’ Man, USA productions of Hello Dolly, showgirl routines for Norwegian Cruise Ships, Ballerina for Tasmanian Ballet Company, commercial dancer for the Opening of the Entertainment Centre and Royal Command Performances for Prince Charles and Princess Diana and TV dancer for the likes of Mike Walsh, Don Lane and many commercials. She has also performed with Frank Sinatra, Marcia Hines, Kylie Minogue, Richard Simmons, and Rosanna Arquette.

Virginia was the Director of Choreography for Sydney 2002 Gay Games Opening and Closing Ceremony, where she choreographed and directed over 3,000 performers, including kd Lang, Kath and Kim, Bob Downe, Shauna Jenson, Judy Connelli, and Deborah Cheatham.

During last few years Virginia was Artistic Director for the The Australian Dance Awards at the Sydney Opera House, The Spinning Around Exhibition at the Power House, Commercials for TVI, KFC, Lipton Jiggler and Lifesavers, Artistic Director for Streets of Dance Festivals for Carnivale. She has choreographed shows for The Sydney Olympic Games (2000) Martin Place live sites. And spent many weeks touring NSW as an Ausdance tutor with the Outback Dance Project (in association with Ausdance NSW /NAISDA and Outback Arts Coonamble and West Darling in Broken Hill) teaching and performing to over 3,000 people. Virginia is also a sort after specialist dance tutor at such places as the University of Western Sydney, NIDA, University of NSW, Actors Centre and Sydney Dance Company and many more. Virginia was also the Head of Dance for The McDonald College Performing Arts School, Sydney.

Melanie Hitchcock

Melanie's dance history includes 20 years of study/performance in ballet, contemporary, tap, jazz and Musical Theatre. For the last 7 years Mel has focused on developing her street styles including RnB/funk, Hip Hop dance and breaking. After completion of her HSC in 1996 Melanie attended ACE (Australian College of ntertainment) as a Dance Major. Followed by a year at MASQUE (National institute of Performing Arts), Studying Singing, Acting and Dance.

In 2000 Melanie Studied at QUT Queensland University of Technology) to gain her Advanced Certificate in Dance Teaching Melanie has choreographed and performed in numerous events throughout Australia and Japan. She has performed and toured with Laycock Dance Theatre (ballet company), Central Performance Project (Contemporary/Corporate) and the Lost in Bexley Theatre Company (Musicals) performing in various theatres, fringe festivals and arts projects..

Melanie has spent the last three years dancing and choreographing for "Caramell Dancers", Performing regularly in nightclubs, corporate events, competitions, and festivals such as "livid, Sweatfest and the Big day out". She has also danced in video clips for Marea's Tonic, Selwyn, Delona and choreographed Amanda Perez clip "I Like It". Television credits include appearances on Channel V, Sunrise, Sydney weekender, The Footy Show and Movie "Son of the mask".

Sharryn Dermody

Sharryn has been performing professionally in the Entertainment Industry for the past 15 years. Training in Jazz, Tap, Singing, Ballet and Acting in Sydney Australia. She has performed nationally and internationally as a dancer, singer, actor and choreographer. An extremely versatile talent, Sharryn has choreographed for Human Nature, The Wiggles, assistant to William Forsythe P&O Cruise Ships, Performed on Broadway, Cabaret Shows, Hair Expo 2002 and Musical Theatre. Sharryn has most recently been touring the Seas Performing in Cabaret Shows on P&O Pacific Princess as Line Captain for Grayboy Entertainment.

Other credits include Australia’s Wonderland, NRL Entertainment, “Lights, Camera, Action” and Wiggle Bay” for the ABC, various Caberet shows, Television and Conventions. Sharryn’s passion for tap dancing is clear, she has a style which is both modern and musical and perfection is in every beat…..

Her teaching experience is just as vast and varied including McDonald College of Performing Arts, Sydney University Workshops, Brent Street and ACE Performing Arts to name a few. Sharryn is a very keen, professional, talented performer and teacher.

Czaba Sirmai
Born in Hungary, Csaba discovered the art form of dance at the age of 11 and became the Hungarian Youth Ballroom and Latin American Champion at only 16 years of age.

Csaba is also a professional hip hop dancer who has performed as a support act for the Backstreet Boys and Nsync.He modelled in Hungary’s national campaigns for Levi’s, G-star and Diesel. Csaba first appeared on the international stage in 1997– winning fourth place at the European Championships dancing the Salsa.He migrated to Australia in 1998, where he has taught at Sydney Dance Company open classes.. In 2002, he toured America with Burn the Floor for six months and was also the Australian Salsa Champion, and came fourth at the World Championships. In 2003, he became the Australian Hip Hop Champion. In 2004, Csaba, won the Strictly Dancing national TV dance competition together with dance partner Luda Kroitor and soon after featured together in a NSW Tourism ad campaign as salsa dancers.

Most recently Csaba has been choreographing for major corporate events, starring in stage cabaret show dance productions choreographed for Chingy  for the MTV Music Video Awards. Csaba has performed in two series of Dancing With The Stars - in series one he danced with TV vet Dr Katrina Warren, and in series two he choreographed former Olympic swimmer Shane Gould.

Siobhan Ginty

Since graduating from Dynamite school of performing arts Siobhan Ginty has enjoyed a varied career in Film, Theatre, Television and Live events.

Siobhan’s Theatre credits include Titanic, Kiss Me Kate, Cinderella [UK], The Witches of Eastwick, Showboat, Happy Days and The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Siobhan was also involved in successful Australian Tours of Rug Rats Live and Streets Of Dance. Siobhan was cast in the film Bootmen, directed by Dein Perry.

Appearances in Television commercials include Qantas, Cadbury’s, Smiths and Lorus watches. Siobhan’s corporate events include Toyota, Johnny Walker, Coke and various Hair expo’s as a dancer , singer and also a choreographer. She was Assistant Choreographer on Deni Hines Live Corporate and also for Sandy Lam Live in Hong Kong.

Most recently Siobhan has been working as Assistant Choreographer for the Opening & Closing Ceremonies  of the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games. She is a Certified New York  Method Pilates Instructor. Siobhan has worked for  all of Australia’s top choreographers and is in constant demand as a freelance performer, choreographer and teacher.

Cristo Zablah

Born in El Salvador Central America in 1976 Cristo grew up
around music and dance as they were firmly installed in his roots from a very young age.  His dance training started in Perth where he attended "the BOMB" dance studio full-time for a year, then part-time for 2 while performing freelance. He has extensive experience in Afro-Cuban Salsa, Funk and Jazz.

While in Perth he Created Kuerazo Dance ensemble that fused traditional pop and modern music with Latin influences. He has trained with and worked for international choreographers such as Luis Moreno and local choreographers such as Ramon Doringo, Michael Boyd and Missy Stephens. Most recently he returned from touring Asia with Six Pack Productions and El Mac with an international show and has a place in the semi finals of ABC show strictly dancing later on this year.

Cristo has established two successful dance groups, he performs as a freelance dancer for El Mac and Six Pack productions, and has choreographed for Courtney Act at Venus room and Dion at the Midnight Shift. A regular performer at the Rio room at Star City casino, he is also lead boy dancer for LACA Latin American Cultural Association.

Justin Brown “Swipa”

Bboy Swipa started dancing with his brothers when he was about 6 years old to the Jackson 5. In 1984 he saw Hip Hop for the first time and it was love at first sight. At the age of 9 he join a break crew called "Movement Unit 2" with his brothers. Justin began teaching all forms of Hip Hop dancing at 17 and a year later in 1993, he created the still current crew "Robotek". 

In 1997, he created a professional BreakDance crew called "Ground Assault" sponsored by Levi's, Black Flys and Caution clothing. Ground Assault became very successful and began touring with "planet X", performing at The "Big Day Out" and "Vibes on a summers day". Also supporting artists such as Naughty By Nature, Jungle Brothers, 1200Techniques, DJQbert, Morganics and Jurassic 5. Swipa has also made appearances on Fox, National Geographic and F.H.M. 

Swipa often travels around Australia teaching hip hop workshops in isolated and disadvantaged communities as well as adult and juvenile correctional facilities

Leslie Bell

Leslie is originally from America where she trained extensively in New York City at Steps on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center. Some of her most influential teachers were Kim Abel, David Howard, Chet Walker, David Marques, Max Stone, and Alan Onickel. Her early training was in the south where she studied ballet and performed with companies in Dallas Texas, and Tennessee.

Leslie’s performing career took off in musical theatre. She has been very fortunate to work with award winning and inspiring choreographers such as Susan Stroman, Rob Marshall, Anne Reinking and Jerome Robbins. She has performed in 9 Broadway Musicals and 5 Broadway National Tours. Some of which include “Chicago”, “Ragtime”, “Victor/Victoria”, “Steel Pier”, “Crazy for You”, “My Fair Lady”, “State Fair” and “Jerome Robbins’ Broadway”. She has also worked in film and television and continues to do so here in Australia.

Leslie began teaching in the Sydney area in 2002 and has taught master classes in Brisbane and Melbourne. She also teaches musical theatre workshops in the United States. Most recently she has begun choreographing for corporate events and musicals.

Stephen Colyer
Stephen Colyer is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts School of Dance and the Australian Ballet School. He danced with The Australian Ballet, The Royal Ballet Of Flanders (Belgium) and Feld Ballets NY.
Stephen has performed in many musicals in Australia and overseas including OLIVER, ANNIE, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, MY FAIR LADY, THE WIZARD OF OZ, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT and CINDERELLA .
Stephen was resident Director/Choreographer for musicals such as: CABARET, THE FULL MONTY and DIRTY DANCING. He can also be seen dancing in the films MOULIN ROUGE and SCOOBY DOO.
Kane Bonke
Kane is a Graduate from Brent Street School of Performing Arts. He has performed with Tours including Will Young UK Arena Tour, Oh What A Night, Footloose the Musical, Manchester Commonwealth Games 2002, Fame the Musical, Crazy For You, Hot Shoe Shuffle (Japan & Adelaide Tour), Bardot Live, Deni Hines Live and Vanessa Amorosi Live. His Film and Television credits include: "Kingdom" – Feature Film, “Your Game” Video Clip Will Young (UK Pop Idol), FIA Awards Ceremony, The Footy Show (Channel 9). Kane has choreographed Daewoo Constuction TVC, “The Way You Make Me Feel” Shakaya, Human Nature (Mardi Gras Festival-Asst Choreographer), and more...

 

Yolanda Thomas

Teaching hip-hop at the respected Sydney Dance Company open classes for the past 7 years. Yolanda’s choreography has been seen on various film clips played on Video Hits, Rage and MusicMax.Holding an advanced certificate in performing arts from DAVID ATKINS STUDIOS, Yolanda keeps updated by flying to L.A once a year and doing workshops with the hottest choreographers in L.A who work with artist such as Missy Elliot. Trained in Korean Karate, she holds one state title - “Female under brown belt”.

Australian tours include Coca Cola media launches and New York dance band Reel 2 Real (“I like to move it, move it!”).

Earlier this year she was hired by a dance group to update them with the latest hip hop grooves before they danced with Snoop Dog in Las Vegas which was filmed by MTV.

A full time entertainer Yolanda’s musical theatre highlights include a season of ‘Leader of the pack’ at Star city showroom. She was the understudy to Danni Minogue in GREASE the Arena Spectacular, also playing the role of Donna Sue Miller, with minimum crowds of 10,000 in Australia and 40,000 in N.Z.

She has just come back from L.A, where she also did some original showcase gigs after sparking some interest when becoming an Australian finalist in ROCKSTAR SUERNOVA.

Simonne Smiles

Simonne Smiles began her training with Inara Svalbe and Mary Heath in Brisbane. She furthered her training in Melbourne after being accepted into the Australian Ballet School. Following this Simonne completed further studies at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, where she gained an Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts.

After completing her studies, Simonne danced several seasons with the Queensland Ballet and in a season with Halberstadt Ballet,Gemany before being accepted into the Singapore Dance Theatre, where she danced for 4years. During her time in Singapore Simonne conducted adult ballet classes. After returning to Australia she danced in Tasmania, where she performed as well as taught workshops.

Gaining an interest in dance education, Simonne joined the Queensland Ballets education program for a season. Since then Simonne has been residing in Sydney. She danced in Bondi Ballets 2004 season, and has conducted several workshops in conjunction with Bondi Ballet. She has also guest taught at the University of New South Wales dance department, and for Joanne Grace School and Dance. Simonne has diversified her skills by also completing Cerficate IV in Pilates with Pilates International. She currently teaches pilates throughout Sydney.

Nate “Nach0 Pop”

Nate has been popping since he was very young, growing up in New York City. He is trained in robot style, basic boogaloo style, and puppet. Nate is also trained in hip hop, including harlem shaking.

Winner 2004 National 1 on 1 Dancekool Popping Competition. Winner 2004 You Got Served Dance Olympics Hip hop Dance Battles. Has danced on stage with (not just behind) N*E*R*D, Gangstarr, Selwyn, and Black Eyed Peas. Currently starring in the Club V Dance Space ads. Best popper in Sydney, and battles constantly to retain the title.

Nate has been teaching for 5 years, in primary schools, high schools and street studios around Sydney.

Ali Pritchard

Ali has a wealth of performance, teaching and choreographic experience. Her training began with ballet when she was only four, and now includes hip hop, break, contemporary, and jazz, which she has utilised in several musical theatre productions, and onboard Princess Cruises, entertaining audiences around the world.

Originally from New Zealand, Ali has continued her love of dance in Sydney, teaching hip hop, funk and jazz at Dance Central, Dance Fitness and Sydney Dance Company.

Ali’s passion for dance recently led her to become a regular on television, judging three series of competitors on the ABC’s Strictly Dancing; and choreographing, performing and narrating parts of the ABC’s demonstration DVD.

Other commercial credits include: MTV Awards (dancing for r’n’b superstar Chingy); music clips for a variety of artists, such as Amanda Perez; Sydney Weekender; Australia Uncovered; various promos for Channel V; music festival Livid; and national event Battle of the Year. Ali has also performed with a multitude of local artists and with dance companies H2D and Caramell.

Jason Moore

Born and trained in New Zealand, Jason Moore graduated as a scholarship student from the New Zealand School of Dance (1990), and has since enjoyed an extensive and varied career with renowned companies including Opera Australia, The Royal New Zealand Ballet, The Commotion Company (NZ), Company Z (NZ), Auckland Dance Company and Bondi Ballet (Aus).

He is perhaps most recognisable in Australia as the ‘Dancing Man’ for Channel 10’s movie promotions (2003 – 2005).

International exposure includes performing Three season’s of ‘Cats’, for the Really Useful Company throughout Australasia; As founding member and lead, male aerialist in ‘MAUI’ (2005), directed by Tane Mahuta Gray; ‘Four Seasons’, for the Taiwan International Festival of the Arts under the directorship of Norman Hall and ‘The Aboriginal Protestors’, an adaptation of ‘The Commission’, by Heiner Muller as premiered for the Sydney Festival in 1996, consequently touring in Germany, directed and choreographed by Noel Tovey.

Throughout his career, Jason has had the privilege of performing choreography by Sir Robert Helpman, Graeme Murphy, Rosetta Cook, Garth Welch, Lindsay Dollan, Kim Walker, Mary-Jane O’Reilly, Michael Parmenter and James Taylor.

Jason studied dance teaching at the Australian Ballet School (1998), Pilates at the Royal NZ Ballet & Australian Ballet School; Ballet Master for the Auckland Dance Company and choreographed/ taught at Otahuhu College(1999). Jason is also a Freelance Teacher, Coach, Choreographer and Masseuse.

 Dale Pope

 

 

 

Dale Pope is a highly sought after dancer, choreographer and teacher based in Sydney. Trained in all styles of dance from Commercial Jazz and Hip Hop to Classical, Dale majored in  Contemporary at New Zealand Performing Arts School and continued her professional dance career here in Australia when she moved across the Tasman 8 years ago, after completing 4 years on the international aerobics circuit representing NZ twice in the Pairs Division. 

Career highlights include performances with Kylie Minogue, Marcia Hines, kd lang, Caroline O'Connor, Katie Underwood and Tina Cousins. She has also performed for Queen Elizabeth, Prince Edward and the King and Queen of Sweden.  Dale regularly choreographs musicals and stage shows for primary and high schools and is the NSW State Choreographer for the Australian Girls Choir (of the Qantas Ad fame), for whom she has been 4x National Tour Choreographer and recently announced as the 2006 International Tour Choreographer.

Kellie Harkin

Kellie (aka ‘Kurvy’) started bellydancing with the Hathor Dance Studio in 1999 and is one of the founding members of the Hathor Dance Theatre. Currently she is teaching and performing in Sydney as a solo and collaborative bellydance artist fusing fire, traditional oriental and tribal styled bellydance. She has attended classes/workshops with Hilary Cinis, Devi Mamak, Hossam Ramzy, Rachel Brice, Blue Damsel, Kaeshi Chai and The Fat Chance Bellydance Company. Kellie travelled to Maui in 2007 to attend intensive workshops with Jill Parker (Ultra Gypsy) and Heather Stants (Urban Tribal).

Her passion for bellydance comes from the dynamic constantly evolving artform, the music, the costumes and that anyone of any age can bellydance for fun, fitness and/or creative expression. Her personal life philosophy is Move with Softness influenced by her practice of Ashtanga Yoga. She has a strong interest in bellydance fusion and is currently attending contemporary dance classes.

Kellie also loves to teach bellydance and the joy it brings to her students. Her classes are energetic, fun, friendly and offer a variety of oriental and tribal technique and choreography.

Kellie performs at various private functions, restaurants and nightclubs around Sydney and regularly performs with the Hathor Dance Theatre and Hilary Cinis.
